Collin McGee is a professional rock climbing coach with Camp4 Human Performance and Fitness Director at Alliance Fitness Center in Reading, PA, working with athletes from field hockey and soccer to rock climbers worldwide. He uses OVR Jump, OVR Velocity, and OVR Sprint for their simplicity in data collection and problem-solving features like increased landing space and visible readouts at a reasonable cost. The devices have dramatically improved athlete engagement and psyche, with both athletes and adults loving real-time data feedback that helps them distinguish between low and high-quality efforts.

Products

OVR Jump, OVR Velocity, OVR Sprint

Why OVR?

OVR has been the simplest data collection tool I have used for velocity and vertical jump. It has also solved a lot of problems that past products have had like increasing the landing space in a vertical jump device, visible on-device readouts, and all at an incredibly reasonable cost. The software's ability to transition to different devices seamlessly is also a major convenience.

Results

The biggest improvement is our athlete psyche and engagement. The athletes (and adult population) LOVEEEE seeing their data real time and love learning the difference between a low and high quality effort or rep. The ease to implement recurring testing for our athlete performance program has also been a major value.

Pro Tips

Use it often but also not every time. It is essentially to test your athlete's performance to audit their results and progress, to show them what a quality rep looks like and to have a digital coach ensure better reps, but in a world of digital overload, young athlete's need time to also learn that a "low velocity day" is not the end of the world nor a wasted day. Use the tools but don't spray them like a fire hose at your athletes. Dosing it is important and keeps the value high without being overwhelming.
