For years, athletes have chased a numbers to define their performance. Video games nailed it with the classic “overall rating” from 1–99. Now, for the first time, you can have that same style of score – based on your own athletic data.
Meet the OVR Score.
How the OVR Score Works
The OVR Score is based on over 140,000 real athletes data collected from two decades of Combines, Pro Days, and High School testing data. That history gives the OVR Score real context: your number reflects how you stack up against thousands of athletes who have competed at the highest levels.
The OVR Score is built from six key metrics:
- Vertical Jump
- Velo Bench Test
- 5-10-5
- Tru40
- Height
- Weight
The system then calculates your overall OVR Score from 1 to 99. You’ll also unlock five ratings:
- Speed
- Acceleration
- Power
- Agility
- Jump
What's a Good OVR?
Here's where different levels of athletes stack up:
- 50+: On par with the average starting varsity high school player
- 60+: Comparable to the lower end of D1 rostered athletes
- 70+: In line with starting-level D1 power conference players
- 80+: NCAA all-conference caliber athleticism
- 90+: Extremely rare. Reserved for elite college and professional players
To put it in perspective, Von Miller recorded the highest ever 98 OVR (129.5 NFL career sacks). Derrick Henry scored the highest High School OVR of 92.1, before becoming a top NFL Running Back.
The 6 Metrics Behind the OVR Score
Your OVR Score is powered by six key metrics. Each one is simple to test with OVR devices.
Vertical Jump
- Standing vertical jump (no approach)
- Stand in the OVR Jump and jump as high as possible
- Your jump height is your score
Velo Bench Test
Start with an empty 45 lb barbell
- Bring the bar to your chest
- Pause for 3 seconds
- Press up as fast as possible
Your peak velocity is your score.
5–10–5 Agility Test
- Set up OVR Sprint with markers 5 yards in each direction
- Use an In-Beam Start with the athlete touching the ground with one hand
- Athlete sprints 5 yards to one side, 10 yards to the other, and 5 yards back through the line
- The total time is your score
Tru40 Sprint
Not everyone has access to a full 40-yard dash setup. That’s why we created Tru40 – a smarter way to calculate your true 40-yard time from shorter splits.
You can use splits like:
- 10–20 yards
- 10–40 yards
- 10–60 yards
- Flying 10 yards
Visit our Tru40 Calculator to get your Tru40 from any split time.
Height
Measured in inches or centimeters without shoes on.
Weight
Measured in pounds or kilograms.
How Ratings Are Calculated
Your 6 inputs feed into your overall OVR Score and your 5 ratings:
Speed: how fast you cover distance
Acceleration: your explosiveness out of the gate
Power: your force and velocity together
Agility: your ability to cut and change direction
Jump: your vertical leap ability
Scorecard Tiers
Your OVR Score unlocks a custom scorecard skin, based on your overall rating:
Common: 1–49
Bronze: 50–59
Silver: 60–69
Gold: 70-79
